The purpose of the Marion E. Garess Scholarship is to provide an annual award.


Native American student who is attending The University of Montana full time.The University of Montana’s Native American Studies Department is dedicated to promoting high academic achievement among Native American students and assisting them with reaching their educational goals. To uphold this objective, scholarships are awarded each year to undergraduate and graduate students in various University of Montana-Missoula and Missoula College majors. Scholarship funds are limited and the selection process is competitive. All Native American students admitted to The University of Montana are encouraged to apply
Native American students who plan on enrolling or be admitted TO the University of Montana or Missoula College the next year.
Students are required to enroll full-time each semester (12 undergraduate credits or 9 graduate credits)
Students must have a minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average (GPA)
New and transfer students are encouraged to complete the new Student Orientation process
