The School of Biological Sciences at UCI is recognized as one of the national leaders in the development of programs to increase the participation of underrepresented minorities in biomedical sciences. The Minority Science Programs (MSP) is an orchestrated effort by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the School to increase the number of US underrepresented groups in biomedical research careers


Students must be in good academic standing, major and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Note: Non-UCI students: Can enroll through University Extension (Fall, Winter, Spring quarters) or Summer Session.
Bio Sci majors must complete and pass Bio Sci 94: Organisms to Ecosystems AND Bio Sci 194S: Safety & Ethics course prior to enrollment. Non major students must be in their second year and complete and pass Bio Sci 194S: Safety & Ethics course prior to enrollment. Non major students are exempt from Bio Sci 94.
The Bio 199 program is intended for current UCI students only. For high school students, please contact Andrew Walton at waltona@uci.edu regarding the Student Research Intern Program (SRIP).
