For the third straight year, the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation (WRCF) will award a “high-potential, low-income” D.C. area high school student a $25,000 college scholarship. The application deadline is April 8.
The scholarship, administered by the DC College Success Foundation, will go to a public high school student from the District or Prince George’s County. It will be disbursed in $5,000 increments annually. WRCF set up a $25,000 scholarship that would be distributed throughout the student’s college career with the hope that the annual payments can help students who have received smaller scholarships avoid having to seek additional funds or drop out of school before they complete their degrees.
To be eligible for consideration, students must be seeking a bachelor’s degree; have a GPA of 2.75 or better; commit to participate in a program that supports retention in college; be eligible for a college Pell Grant; have filed a federal financial aid form; plan on enrolling or be enrolled full-time as a college student (12 credits or the equivalent for the semester); have participated in interscholastic athletics during high school; and must have demonstrated an active and willing participation in community service throughout high school.
